The Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal project comprised the replacement of nine rail level crossings with five elevated railway stations along one of Melbourne’s busiest transport corridors. Multiple collaborated with Cox Architecture and a broad group of stakeholders to develop a paired back signage system that compliments the inherent wayfinding of each station.
Scope of work:
Signage and wayfinding strategy
Sign scheduling
Signage and wayfinding system design
Station identification design
Design and construction documentation
Stakeholder engagement
Abbreviated station identifiers transformed into human scale three dimensional letter forms. Their passive daytime exterior dynamically transforms at night when each station emits a unique vibrant colour through the perforated sign face. The stations are visually connected and activated, creating a user experience that encourages local pride.
